Job Summary:
The C-Arm Technologist is responsible for operating the C-Arm fluoroscopy machine to produce high-quality radiographic images for patients undergoing pain management procedures and surgical interventions. The technologist ensures patient safety, comfort, and privacy while adhering to all protocols, regulatory standards, and best practices. Key Responsibilities:
C-Arm Operation:
Operate the C-Arm fluoroscopy machine to obtain real-time images during pain management and surgical procedures.
Ensure proper positioning and alignment of the C-Arm to capture clear and accurate images.
Adjust imaging parameters (e.g., exposure settings) to optimize image quality while minimizing patient radiation exposure.
Perform routine checks and maintenance of the C-Arm equipment to ensure its optimal functioning.
Patient Care:
Prepare patients for procedures, including positioning and immobilizing them as needed.
Explain procedures to patients to alleviate any concerns and ensure their comfort.
Monitor patients during procedures for any adverse reactions or discomfort and report any concerns to the attending physician.
Collaboration with Medical Staff:
Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless execution of procedures.
Provide technical support during procedures, including image acquisition and troubleshooting equipment issues.
Assist in the sterile field setup as required for surgical procedures.
Radiation Safety:
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, including the use of lead aprons, thyroid collars, and dosimeters.
Ensure all team members and patients are shielded appropriately during imaging.
Maintain accurate records of radiation exposure and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Accurately document all procedures performed, including patient information, procedure details, and images taken.
Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist in maintaining an organized and up-to-date imaging library.
Quality Assurance:
Participate in quality assurance programs, including regular calibration and testing of imaging -equipment.
Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel immediately.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of imaging protocols and procedures.
Continuing Education:
Stay current with advances in radiologic technology, particularly related to C-Arm use and pain management/surgical procedures.
Attend in-service training sessions and continuing education programs as required.
Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
Associate’s Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology or related field.
Current ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification or equivalent.
State licensure to operate radiologic equipment, if applicable.
